We have advised the UK Government that a change to the Equality Act 2010 - so that ‘sex’ means biological sex - could bring clarity in a number of areas, but potential ambiguity in others. We have suggested that they carefully identify and consider the potential implications.

We will be engaging with the Govt’s programme set out in today’s Queen’s Speech. Equality and human rights must be at the centre of proposals, including the levelling up agenda. I welcome the focus on protecting women and girls from violence and banning conversion therapy.

Great to see this report support and explain the importance of flexible working for disabled people. If flexible working for those with disabilities becomes the norm, we can hope to see a reduction in high disability pay gaps and inequality faced by disabled workers.
