I am so proud of all the effort we put into passing this budget and helping our Commonwealth build back stronger!

REPLENISHING UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE: We are protecting employers from an increased tax burden by replenishing the Virginia Employment Commission’s Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund. This will help both small businesses and workers get back on their feet.

PROMOTING MENTAL HEALTH: COVID-19 has highlighted just how much work we have to do to improve our behavioral health system. That is why we are allocating more funding to community-based crisis centers, supportive housing, and suicide and substance abuse prevention and treatment.

ADVANCING PUBLIC HEALTH: Virginia has been a national leader in our response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This budget will continue to help us prioritize public health in response to this pandemic and for any emergency health crisis in the future.

INVESTING IN HIGHER EDUCATION: This budget will provide financial aid for Virginia students attending colleges and universities here in the Commonwealth. This will help students and their families from all parts of the state afford college.

INCREASING CLEAN WATER ACCESS: Nobody should have to question whether their drinking water is clean. Our budget will ensure ALL Virginians have access to clean water and make critical investments in our infrastructure to keep our rivers and the Chesapeake Bay clean.

IMPROVING PUBLIC SCHOOLS: Our priority has been getting our children back in schools safely as possible. We are dedicating critical funding to address ventilation needs and improve air quality in our classrooms.

SUPPORTING SMALL BUSINESSES: We are committing $250 million to fully fund the Rebuild VA program, which provides grants to small businesses affected by the pandemic. It is exactly what we need to keep our small businesses and economy strong.

EXPANDING BROADBAND: We are going to bridge the digital divide in Virginia! Bringing broadband to every corner of our Commonwealth within the next 3 years will connect our unserved communities to the education and jobs of the future.
