Again, while we wait for our original tweet to be restored: Using screenshots in a story on infringement is an important part of reporting, and (deep breath) a tweet about a bogus takedown of a tweet about someone else’s infringement is not infringement.https://www.eff.org/issues/intellectual-property …

The tweets have been restored. We've created a Twitter Moment of several relevant tweets in this story in case anyone needs them in the future, and we’ll keep calling out abusive takedowns and helping people defend their rights to speak on the Internet.https://twitter.com/i/moments/1117916488457785344 …

And when I went to read the article I found that
@Comcast Xfi uses an IP-level DNS intercept to redirect the TorrentFreak website to a Comcast page with a notice that they find the website suspicious and are protecting me from the big scary Internet. Or that's how I read it...pic.twitter.com/1j8fpNFjN5

If you have any of Comcast "protected browsing" turned on, kill it with fire.https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/xfi-advanced-settings …

The worst part? Twitter still hasn't restored the original tweet. So they can act *lightning fast* on a legal request to remove content, but don't have the same urgency when responding to a legal request to restore the content.
-
They law clearly spells out how fast they will be paying the person complaining if they do not jump high enough or fast enough. The law promises on penalty of perjury as the 'punishment' for sending bogus notices. Facing millions in damages, they jump first. The law is broken.

I guess
@Twitter doesn’t even check the validity of the infringement before acting. They just take down the content of whatever request comes with DMCA written on it. Elegant service we’re using. -
That is exactly what they are supposed to do. They don't get to decide which copyright infringement complaints are valid.
