Current status: doing forensics on my own iPhone to do the same sort of network data report as in that Bezos forensics report:

The Bezos forensic report is not very good. The forensic analysis should be done by who at least have the relevant experience. The MP4 file should contain the exploit (if it is CVE-2019-11931). The exploit trigger should be visible with ffmpeg

My conjecture* for 2020. An 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 increase in the # cores available to your favourite fuzzer yields a 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗿 increase in coverage achieved (or # bugs found) after a fixed time budget. Maybe less. *Give me counter-evidence!

We made a website which shows a genealogy of fuzzers: Basically, this is a fork from the one we have in the survey, but which we can keep up-to-date and where anyone can contribute at:

I wrote a small tool to "recreate" AFL's mutation chain from a given seed/crash. It can also produce a graph that shows the relationship between seeds and the mutations that led to the creation of those seeds Hopefully it's useful to peeps

A week ago I tweeted this. Two days later sent a letter to the Army expressing concern over the use of TikTok for recruiting.

How can we avoid overspecializing our tools towards a benchmark? As a follow-up to our investigation of the Angora fuzzer, here are some thoughts on good scientific practice as it comes to evaluating software:

DrSancov, another tiny tool I've been finding useful lately. It's a DynamoRIO plugin which mimics the output of ASAN and SanitizerCoverage, so that you can easily plug in a closed-source app into a fuzzing framework expecting a typical open-source target.

In multiple recent disclosure discussions on Twitter, I had said I will write a longer blog post about my views. I finally found the time to jot them down. I expect almost every reader to disagree with something vehemently. Enjoy "Disclosure Rashomon":

Bug injection in hardware :) This paper added bugs to SoCs and then ran a competition at DAC to see how effective people were at finding them (as well as testing formal verification tools)

My fuzzer framework is now public! It's still a WIP, but is usable in its current form for easy mutation and binary serialization of data structures.
