Look if you want to motivate people, fine do THAT. But stop equating one’s wages to their work-ethic, there’s no correlation and often times it’s ppl in low-paying jobs grinding the hardest. And to hell w/ the “go get it” oversimplified take on ppl financial struggles!pic.twitter.com/7sQJYwDzdV

He didn't equate one's wages with their work ethic. You did.
-
He literally said minimum wage work ethic.
-
He's the one who paired it with wage. He could've said substandard work ethic, or lazy work ethic or bad work ethic but instead he chose minimum wage work ethic.
-
He could have said anything he wanted to. And he did. He doesn't need to accommodate people who misunderstand or choose to read whatever they want into his words.
-
Or... or this highly-paid athlete w/ his millions and education can choose his words carefully to convey his thoughts. You really need not cape so hard for another adult to the point of acting like ppl can’t read what HE typed lolpic.twitter.com/tG6DhTaQvK

People on minimum wage don't mean they don't have a massive work ethic
-
not the point of the tweet. he’s saying your work ethic shouldn’t be deserving of only minimum wage
-
The quote means you can’t achieve high aspirations with minimal effort, but to associate “low work ethic” with minimum wage is incredibly classist.

DWade you should read the wonderful book “Nickel and Dimed” by Barbara Ehrenreich. You would learn a lot about the work ethic of individuals who earn minimum wage instead of a living wage in the US.
-
That’s a really good book. I reread it every few years.
-
I remember pouring over that book in college. Ehrenreich was co-chair of
@DemSocialists at the time. If you appreciate her writing and want to fight the system of inequality she wrote about, consider joining DSA! - 1 more reply
