Does anyone here disagree with this idea? Is someone here willing to invent a horrible meatloaf recipe and share it here and encourage me to spread that horrible recipe? Got a really bad automotive model? Want to spread it? Knock it off. States, not USgov, rule immigration.

If it is "Pursuant" to one of the limited authorities enumerated in the Constitution, that is correct, but if not, it's none of the federal's business.

Its completey the Govs right to know who is in the Country, to even control it. You do know from the 1920s-60s there was no immigration right. For 40yrs we needed to assimilate those that came early,, they wanted to be American, to share our values, and most did.

Assuming you are referring to the federal government, would you care to point to that part of the U.S. Constitution that gives it that right? And please inject any nonsense about "uniformed Rule of Naturalization".

Article I S8 C4 of the Constitution delegates immigration powers to the Federal Govt(Congress). How can a nation have 50, potentially, different immigration policies? Those, predominately, coming to America want the "benefits" of being in America. They don't want to be Americans!

As with anything, there are Laws on the books already about immigration into OUR Country. They have been known since conceived. Why its a surprise to anyone is beyond me. There is a way to get here thats orderly, you cant just have ppl flood in without knowing who they are.

as for this jumping off point....how can/could the Founding Fathers become Americans? If they had to be native born to be American. How could any of them become president, let a lone a citizen of the newly formed country?

Everyone residing in the States at the time of its ratification became a citizen the day the new Constitution which created the USA as implemented. And anyone who became a citizen at that time was specifically exempted from the "Natural Born" requirement in Article II.
