(1/5) For my fellow Texans who are also believers: Romans 13 calls on us to follow the lawful government of men God has put in place, as long as the worldly laws they create do not go against God's law.
(2/5) The government we have in Texas is a representative system in which most authority is distributed among those we elect to the legislature. The power to create law is explicitly left to that body & not to any one man, which is the entire premise of our style of government.

A gross misrepresentation of a proper interpretation of Romans 13. Remember Paul was under the pagan, corrupt government of Rome. At the center of the passage is submission to ALL authority for the sake and name of Christ. This is why you never saw Paul lead a revolt...
But laid his life down willingly, even though it was unjust, for the name and sake of Christ that His name would never be associated with rebellion.
