Yes, Lefty, this is a Republic. Constitutional Originalism means interpreting that document and it's Amendments (which become part of the Constitution when ratified by the states) by the Original Intent of the authors, and not as a 'Living' document subject to 'judicial opinion'.
You’re such an originalist that you follow the rulings of modern progressive judges & not the original understanding of the States & the 1st Congress; the same understanding upheld by SCOTUS for over 135 years, over a half century after - AFTER - the 14th was implemented.

The states exercised their rights when they ratified each and every amendment to the Constitution that lays out the unalienable rights of their citizens, and imposed that obligation on the federal gov't and themselves. You keep your hands off my guns, candidate.
