crews are salting and plowing streets along our snow routes. Please don’t drive if it’s not necessary. If you have to get out, drive slowly, increase your following distance and be careful. Find the snow route map and winter weather tips at .

So far Will Rogers World Airport OKC has measured 3.2 inches of snow. This is a new record for February 5th. The old record was 2.3 inches in 2002. More to come!

  8. Solid layer of ice on the ground (including streets) right now and still sleeting fairly steadily. Would definitely advise against traveling at the current time!

2:30am A large area of winter precipitation is occurring across much of central Oklahoma. Sleet is starting to transition to snow in most areas. Expect snow to continue and Norman roads are becoming slick.

Here is our latest estimate of snow (and sleet) accumulation tonight and Wednesday. The main change is a reduction in accumulation in southeast OK, where sleet and freezing rain will hold down the accumulation amounts.

Wintry precipitation will impact travel over the next few days over a broad area. Some of the heaviest snow may fall from tonight into early Wednesday in the southern Plains of west Texas and Oklahoma. Snowfall rates could exceed 1 inch per hour in the heaviest snow bands.

A large part of Oklahoma will be impacted by a winter storm over the next 24-30 hours. Higher impacts are expected in the pink shaded area where a Winter Storm Warning is in effect. Be careful and check for updates.

Mesonet Ticker: A Snowmageddon for the rest of us Okay peeps, you have TWO DAYS to prepare lest you be forced to resort to cannibalism on Wednesday...before it all melts on Thursday. Hey, a guy can get hungry in 12-24 hours!

My guaranteed accurate Oklahoma snow forecast: 1 - many will hope it snows; 2 - most will not get what they were hoping for; 3 - many will be irrationally angry at forecasters. Be kind to your meteorologists. This isn't easy and they are working hard to give you good info.

Possibility of snow over the next couple days. Haven't seen substantive snowfall in central OK for a good while, so should we see much accumulation-wise in the area, I won't be complaining! Nonetheless, always good to take proper precautions whether at home or traveling.

We have one more mild day today before a winter storm likely brings snow Tuesday night & Wednesday. Right now it appears portions of central & southwest Oklahoma and western north Texas may see 4" of snow, so a Winter Storm Watch has been issued.
