Trump namechecks and calls for bipartisan legislation on drug prices -- but he doesn't actually endorse Grassley-Wyden bill (which most Republicans hate)

Just saw a patient with first time seizure. Uninsured, taxi driver, paid $715 for 3 month supply of medication. Debating his health vs family needs. Losing hope. Last minute tried our clinic. Same medication at our pharmacy=$10. He’s crying (I nearly am too).

Our paper discussing cost of therapies is out. Might have included some controversial arguments. Nevertheless, rising drug costs is not an issue that can be addressed with a single intervention. Or can it?

I'm not sure how much of an "opportunity" this is for people needing Rx. Medicaid plans typically have very generous prescription drug coverage. Proceed with caution when thinking about exclusions. h/t for sharing.

At a time when so much of the discussion is on how to access drugs, this is terrific examination of the importance of “de-prescribing.” Health care decisions must examine tradeoffs, safety, efficacy, cost, patient preferences
