We knew it was never going to result in a Senate conviction, so the important thing wasn't quickly proving a case to recalcitrant GOP senators, it was dragging more & more damning evidence into the public eye for as long as possible, knowing there'd be no shortage of evidence.

This was 100% obstruction by the WH. The D’s in the House would be in court on these subpoenas until mid 2021. Congress is a co-equal branch that this POTUS thumbs his nose towards. He should be sent packing.

Maybe, but he was never going to be removed. But maybe the most favourable outcome is the one we have now. Each subsequent leak and document that comes out increases the political cost to the GOP senate. It makes the coverup more obvious, embarrassing and potentially costly.
