Re-reading 's (excellent) 2014 BBS paper, I came across this gem of a trait, which I would not wish on anybody. My sympathy goes out to all those poor souls over evolutionary history whose fitness has been affected by their *particular* gassiness 🥴💨😷

This paper should be a cautionary tale for those who overemphasize the utility of meta-analyses.

Anthropologist Frank Marlowe passed away Sept 2019. Here's a Memorium in 'Human Nature' to Frank, with a student, personalized backdrop that acknowledges his influence on many of us.

Y'all seem to like those shortcut recordings, here is another. Use alt + arrows up and down to swap lines of code. No more cut and paste people.

I've seen so many people reference/tweet 's seminal paper The Hazard of Hazard Ratios and, to my shame, only just got to reading it. 1/

This is so cool! Watching it I couldn't help imagining what all those hominin species were like, how they behaved, communicated, thought, lived and died. Humans get a pretty bad rap these days - it's worth remembering we're just another primate on an epic evolutionary journey!

The replication crisis spreads to impact evaluations of international development interventions... Fewer than 25% of studies in this sample were even "push-button" reproducible. Journals need to up their game and make data and code sharing the norm!

Excited to be writing the 3rd edition of ‘Sense and Nonsense: Evolutionary Perspectives on Human Behaviour’ with co-author Kevin Laland. Any suggestions for what new material we should include? [Thread] 2nd edition:

This paper has been a labour of love. It’s far from the final word on this - but hopefully helpful in illuminating the many reasons people punish others & the consequences punishment might have on target’s behaviour (esp. perverse outcomes). Comments welcome.

Excellent thread. Elsevier will grant you all the research access you want if they can get their grubby mitts on your data. The movement for OA only makes sense as a struggle for who controls scholarly communication, not the conditions according to which access is granted.

Are you worried about the external validity of RCTs across locations? Instead of griping about Nobel prize winners on twitter please read my research papers!! At this point I'm starting to feel offended when people say "BUT NOBODY WORKS ON EXTERNAL VALIDITY!!".

Cf work by suggesting mere repeated exposure to information increases plausibility: Stronger social/cultural ties -> repeated exposure to misinformation -> increased acceptance
