Very interesting study. The microbiome findings are fascinating. If validated in larger populations, and especially if the impact of diet is examined, may indeed lead to a new approach to studying psychosocial interventions.

Yes diet was sort of controlled for but not very well. This definitely requires replication.

I've not read in detail, but a sample of 40 seems very small and unrepresentative to me to make relatively bold claims. It is interesting but surely needs a much bigger cohort and requires replication studies before we can say anything with any degree of confidence.
