Hard work is the engine. Strategy is the GPS. It’s difficult to get anywhere without hard work. If the engine stops running, progress stalls. But you’ll waste a lot of gas without a good strategy. It’s easier to make progress when you’re following the optimal path.

One thing I keep thinking about after talking to : He paused the conversation multiple times to reiterate something we'd said which had triggered a new thought for him. It was great for pushing the conversation in the right direction. I loved that.

Some rooms look inaccessible. You may stare at the door for years, yearning for what's on the other side. And when you finally work up the courage to try the door, you realize it's unlocked.

Cold emails are a great way to land a job. Here's what I've learned: ∙ Email the CEO directly. ∙ Show that you're unique. ∙ Be specific. ∙ Make a bold request. ∙ Have a clear call-to-action. ∙ Don't be humble. This isn't the time to be modest. Now... make magic happen.

The best work resists compression. The best explanations are short, but potent. The best software delivers the same outcome in fewer clicks. The best manufacturing processes create products in less time and with less waste. The shape of genius is simplicity.
