He’s reading off stats and facts from, what he calls, “reputable sources” (Denver Post & Washington Post are a couple he’s mentioned) that indicate the dangers of legalization of cannabis. Like, low-income women using during pregnancy and health risks for children/adolescents

DeLuca: No matter how you package this, whether it’s revenue or it’s criminal justice reform or is saying people are smoking it anyway, so just give up. I don’t have a crystal ball but I can pretty much guarantee you where we’re going to be in 10 yrs...& it’s not going to be good

@il29cand, (D-Calumet City): This is going to create millionaires, but not too many black millionaires. He wants to ensure this bill goes far enough in helping POC get involved & benefit from the cannabis marketShow this thread -
Jones: I have to go back to a community like Ford Heights and explain to them the advantages and disadvantages of this bill. He's says he's going to listen to debate, but is not a yes vote yet.

Rep. John Connor (D-Lockport) is talking about his experience as a former prosecutor who handled expungements. He says it's difficult to explain to people convicted of low-level pot crimes that their records can't be expunged when they just want to do better for their family

Connor says because of the expungement piece in the legislation is the reason he is a "strong yes."

Rep. Steve Reick (R-Woodstock) says this measure goes too far (doesn't want full legalization) before the potential effects of marijuana on the public are truly known. "An intermediate step is fully called for and can fully be done." Another Republican no vote

Rep. Curtis Tarver, @Tarver25th, (D-Chicago) says it is a "travesty" to say this truly about criminal justice reform "when we've had 50 damn years" to work on it. He says this is really about money and if it weren't for his faith in Dep. Gov.
@cljmitchell, he would not support itShow this thread -
