I say this earnestly: I really hope that the newsroom at @nytimes will step back and rethink how they write these kinds of stories (attempting to distill expert analysis on a complex but important topic for a mainstream audience) in the wake of this colossal miss.

The problem is that the information hasn't drastically changed. It's the same thing people were called conspiracy cranks. It's just now being acknowledged
