RP is collaborative, so I always approach with the mindset of, "will this contribute to the other character's story at all?" Some people are very obviously trying to tell different types of stories and it's up to fellow players to "read them" first before adding to them imo
That's another important angle like I absolutely want to be apart of other people's stories but if I can't do anything to move it along I certainly won't do anything to hinder it, so the option is to spectate and that's totally fine.
