while i was flying through feralas for that screenshot i couldn't help but smile; i used to think that zone was the most beautiful thing i had ever seen in a game! it still kind of holds up in its own way, that's why wow's cartoony style is good

i spent all of shadowlands leveling just marveling at the art direction and set design, as much as i've enjoyed mmorpgs like ffxiv recently there's just something about the art style that doesn't hit the same

Part of me really wishes they would go back and remodel all the old zones with all these amazing graphical upgrades. Yet also keep the older appearance for those who like the old look for nostalgia reasons or those on lower pcs.

Looking at the older models really shows you how the texture team really carried the game in the early days.
