I struggle with Calia because her entire deal has this vibe of her being 'better' than them, more 'good' than them. I barely know anything about her, so I might be off base, but its what I get from the surface level
not to gatekeep forsaken identity or whatever but a forsaken leader being anything but the first (scourge) generation of undead rubs me incredibly wrong. they're the only ones who really understand the initial abhorrence/rejection of the living.

even aesthetic-wise she's placed 'above' the other forsaken, pearly white skin and perfect armor and regal bearing. the optics! they're so bad! i don't see why a people who were shunned and abandoned bc of a menethil would rally behind her at ALL (but im biased)

not only not first-gen but not raised as other forsaken were, never having felt the horrors of scourge-flavor undeath, living w/in an intact and very 'pretty' body, from the line of a family who royally fucked over the forsaken is there ANY reason why they should like calia?

tbf i suppose that can apply to voss as well but voss, at least, had a storyline that involved the initial rejection / horror / acceptance / reclamation of being undead/forasken. don't see why they're so set on one figurehead leader for the forsaken

I don't know. What about a forsaken that origins from the Forsaken's wave of "murder and raise then use you as canon fodder while you're still confused" who, having been raised during the Forsaken's darkests moments, want to prevent their new kin from repeating those mistakes ?

Lilian Voss was murdered and ressurected by the Forsaken. She ran back home to try and find confort, yet found nothing but hatred and disgust in her old comrades. She was rejected by the living, but still understand the suffering brought upon her by the Forsaken actions.

Well, that would be Sylvanas. Sylvanas was one of that WC3 batch of Scourge. The problem is, Sylvanas still sold out her people. What I think Blizzard is doing, is trying to have the Forsaken move in a more positive hopeful direction, rather than wallowing in darkness.

A bright lady, instead of a dark lady. I'm curious to see what Blizzard does with Calia Menethil. Maybe Blizzard can bring up the very contentions you have, and build on that. Conflict of ideology and identity can make good storytelling.
