Giving them a little prior notice seems to have little downside. Those echoing hate and the like can't change the core of their fundamental message/tactics on a whim, or able to justify it upon appeal. Meanwhile, historical channels could have shown intent and able to justify.

This is what is driving me insane about the situation. Youtube HAS become a tool for educators and what you just did could have effected classrooms and teachers, let alone those looking to educate themselves or needing references to historical context. You even in the blog say so

Why is it that every major change like this on youtube, those who get effected like this don't get a little bit of a heads up on the fact that the change could impact them? Why is communication such a sticking point with the company when it relies on creators?

Further more, why was a channel's history not taken into account? My bet is that channels expressing more "hateful" views would have more reports against them (even FALSE reports) versus educational channels. Why was that not taken into account in this situation?

Your higher management system needs to realize the consequences of your decisions a LOT more then they do right now. Every single time in the past few major "decisions", there were better and safer options to take on the surface then what you did. It's confusing.
