February 1, 1960. Four college students, David Richmond, Franklin McCain, Ezell Blair, Jr., and Joseph McNeil, sat down at a Woolworth lunch counter in downtown Greensboro, NC. They changed history.

When led an effort to change the debate thresholds, the DNC refused—saying they couldn’t benefit any candidate. It seems the only candidate they’re willing to benefit is a billionaire who’s buying his way into the race. Total mess.

Wouldn't expect anything less from this Republican Congress, but watching the complete disregard of the Constitution and American democracy in real time is something.

In an election year, Republican presidents are immune from impeachment and Democratic presidents lose their ability to appoint Supreme Court justices.

There are many insightful reactions to the critiques of the circulating, and I thought I might add one small contribution. Wilentz's latest concludes w/ Du Bois, and that rubbed me the wrong way. I'll explain in this thread.

A great deal has been written in the last few weeks about the efforts of a small group of historians to say the has glaring factual error that must be corrected. Others have tried to discredit the project all together. Now historians are pushing back. A THREAD.

And just to add, yes, DuBois believed in facts and a science of history. But he also knew all too well how white historians used "objectivity" to silence black scholars and competing interpretations of the nation's past. This is what Wilentz is sadly replicating.

Great thread by . So disingenuous for Wilentz to invoke Black Reconstruction & make gross false equivalence between and Dunning School. DuBois would air him out.

What if I told you Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a radical who died fighting against war, empire, class inequality and white supremacy in all of its manifestations?
