Emerging evidence suggests that #SARSCoV2 infection may damage the pancreas in some individuals, causing them to develop diabetes. If correct, this could be a huge future public health problem given the growing number of infections worldwide.https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-01891-8 …

Yes and no! To date we do NOT know if there is recovery. There is NO disease in the history of medicine where that massive diagnostics was applied; i.e. we have no precedent to compare !

Is there any way to alert gps to the possibility ? Have we started a nationwide register of positive COVID -19 patients yet similar to the vaccine register. That may help in diagnosis and tracking of long term effects ? If not why not ? @MJA_Editor @VictorianCHO

Any cases of this, that you know about, in Australia yet?

Not that I'm aware of, although I'm not sure where such cases would be reported.

That is something GPS need to be aware of and test for upon presentation. Another long term hit from this beast

Saw this. Very worrying. Diabetics a high risk group for the virus of course.

I had coronavirus for 80 days. Had pneumonia 3 times. Antibiotics were not clearing it. Then I quit sugar & all my symptoms disappeared. Over a month now covid free. I’m pretty sure I had temporary stress related diabetes from covid19.

I read that a lot of people dying with Covid-19 had very low Vitamin D. Also there are suggestions that low Vitamin D or an inability to absorb Vitamin D is part of the root of not only MS but also Diabetes 1 and 2. So maybe there is a connection?

If supplementing with vitamin D, don't forget the vitamin K2 which regulates blood clotting. Absorbing vitamin D via the skin seems to take care of the vitamin K2? Asking for a friend.
