Standing in solidarity with a friend and all women who reject the notion that having a baby should be every woman’s goal. Ladies: DO YOU. 💪🏿

There are probably many who can talk to me about decency and appropriate language. Donald Trump is not one of those people.

It’s easier to ask what kind of crazy person shoots into a family car, killing a 7 yo girl than it is to address the racism of this moment in our nation that puts Black people at risk while doing things that other take for granted, like shopping safely.

F/U post: Doubletree retained my business. They responded the right way by firing these two. This should serve notice to the “Earls” and managers who back them that doing your job does not…

This video shows the toll of being Black in America, a fare that we have been paying since the Emancipation Proclamation. Individual racist bigotry can be invoked at any time, it will be…

When racism and white privilege show up in public spaces, we all need to show up like this woman and this guy. Silence is complicity. I won’t be silent.

May I never be in a space where a Black child is assaulted by a racist. It would not be good.

This is the Trump effect. People are doubling down on their racism, comfortably. She is clearly drunk, but here’s a medical fact about alcohol: it’s truth serum. It doesn’t give you new thoughts. It frees you up to act on the ones you already have.

I’m not surprised. Just disappointed. This state had race covenants for homes in the 20’s. It has become okay for employees to racially profile, companies call the incidents “unfortunate misunderstandings” and its business as usual.

Here’s the most patriotic statement I can make on Christmas Day: I am ashamed of the actions of my country under this administration. I will do what I can to change its course. It is not enough to be ashamed. We must act. Voting and social service. NOW.

The truth will do, but apparently not for this journalist. He wrote a piece on me in 2014 that I had never read. He never sent me a final copy. I read it yesterday. While it was overall favorable, he made up things that had nothing to do with my life.

I’m shouting out the only abortion clinic in Cleveland. Preterm is there for women in Ohio and I am here for them. I’ve served women through that facility. In these times, stand up for…

This is what my white colleagues done understand about my everyday life. Every encounter for me with the monied establishment has this potential because as a person of color who is no longer poor, I still look like I’m hustling when I get profiled.

This is not right. It starts in the White House. As a citizen of this country, if you don’t speak out or intervene when you see this. You are complicit.

I am working hard to reunite Shaima Swileh with her son before it’s too late. As a member of Congress, and a mother myself, the cruelty of barring a mother from reuniting with a sick child takes my breath away. This travel ban is inhumane and un-American.

This document should be one’s frame of reference, not the US Constitution. Fulfilling this document would cover everything in the U.S. declaration, but the converse isn’t true.

People are Christian, nations aren’t. Jesus overthrew an empire he didn’t establish one. He fed children and cared for women, he didn’t lock them up and shame them. Christian license plates seem more like idolatry than religion. Jesus would be disturbed.
