Modifications change WHAT is taught. Accommodations change HOW it is accessed. I see some of the argument against modifying bc you want all kids to have access to a quality education. I see No argument in accommodating bc we want all kids to have access to a quality education.

A 5th grader at a first grade level needs instruction at the functional level to learn. We can't wait until an IEP is in place. Continuing to present grade 5 material is a waste of time and can be demoralizing for the student. We have to meet kids needs where they are.

I didn’t hear you say, “don’t get IEPs.” I heard you say, do what kids need, don’t use “there’s no IEP” as an excuse for not making an accommodation...

Thank you sir.

An IEP is no guarantee or success and giving a diploma to an illiterate student because he or she has an IEP is to avoid the school’s obligation to teach the skills needed to succeed in life

Those diploma kids end up in Job Corps where I have to try to catch them up at age 20. I can accommodate in my classroom, but not for their tests without an IEP. It’s so disheartening! “I graduated.” ...with a 3 rd grade math ability. Wonderful

Girl. Dont get me started about my math skills. Did job corps too. Adults on 2nd grade reading level. Terrible injustice to human beings.
