    At the stage of clusters, contact tracing works well to break chains of transmission.

    1/How an outbreak was crushed: as SARS-CoV-2 appeared in Gwangju, South Korea, meticulous contact tracing was performed by interviews, cell phone location data & credit card receipts to identify contacts. 3K close contacts➡️self quarantine. Another 9K were actively monitored 1/2

    Over the last 4 weeks, over 90% of shared virus sequences were of the Delta variant. But most of these were only shared by a few countries. To have a better 🌍 picture, we need to improve variant surveillance in all countries. New guidance:

    🆕 WHO guidance for national surveillance of virus variants 👉 Standardizing the monitoring & reporting of the variants will give us a better understanding of the virus at a global scale.

    The launch of the new toolkit is an opportunity to remind ourselves that the best way to work towards a dementia-friendly society is to involve people with dementia and their carers in all issues that affect them.

    In the past few weeks, devastating fires have impacted many people's lives. If we continue business as usual, the risks posed by could dwarf those of any single disease. We will end the pandemic, but there's no vaccine for the climate crisis.

    Confirmation of Marburg virus in . Response requires a concerted effort to prevent transmission and protect communities. colleagues have been in the field with local partners since first alerts emerged and will continue to provide all needed support.

    A case of virus disease has been confirmed in the southern Gueckedou prefecture of 🇬🇳. This is the first time Marburg, a highly infectious disease that causes haemorrhagic fever, has been identified in the country, & in West .
