Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus’s Tweets

WHO statement is ludicrous. It was and which challenged the “extremely unlikely” conclusion of the scientific mission into China because it was unscientific. As for the media, some of us have been covering the story 🤷🏻‍♀️

Those of us who were called conspiracy theorists were right on point about the origins of COVID. The media, the WHO, and the Communist Chinese Party have been caught red-handed trying to cover this up.

I can’t stop thinking about the people I met in this reception centre. They urgently need better living conditions - regular meals, basic hygiene, access to school. If not, their children’s health will deteriorate rapidly. Medicines can only do so much in such an environment.

In a reception centre in north-west #Syria, @DrTedros met people displaced several times due to the conflict & earthquakes. They need dignified shelter, basic sanitation, clean water, food, school for children & more access to healthcare. WHO will find solutions with partners.

Too many people have lived through horror the last two years, and have endured enormous loss. Eritrea’s continued massacring of civilians in #Tigray has to stop. Peace is the first step towards recovery.

Exclusive: Just days before a deal to end the war in Ethiopia’s Tigray region, soldiers from neighboring Eritrea last fall massacred more than 300 villagers over the course of a week, according to witnesses and victims’ relatives. wapo.st/41xGDlT

The international community has forgotten #Syria. Situation is heartbreaking. 12 years of war, economic collapse, COVID19, drought and now earthquake. Anyone can imagine through what horror the Syrian people are passing through. Where is humanity?

Due to the conflict, Mohammed stopped school after the 3rd grade. Education is a key element to keeping populations healthy. I hope peace can be achieved and basic services restored, so Mohammed and other children in north-west #Syria can have a healthier, safer, fairer future.

I met Mohammed, 15 years old, who jumped out of a window during the earthquake and broke his arms. He had surgery at Aaqrabate orthopedic hospital, after our visit. The surgery went well. I’m in awe of the doctors in north-west #Syria. will support them in any way possible.

I just visited north-west #Syria. The depth of suffering is difficult to convey. I sat with parents who told me about losing their children and showed me their precious photos. I have rarely been so heartbroken.

My heart is with the people of #Türkiye, who have lost loved ones. The earthquake damage is massive as are the needs of the population. I urge the international community to support the flash appeal so that we can deliver life-saving and recovery assistance.

Touched to my core by the story of an older woman in #Hatay who lost her husband and her home. She is afraid for her daughter because she is in hospital and may lose her leg. She also told me her health is deteriorating because of what she has lived through. #Türkiye

Many people lost everything due to the earthquakes in Hatay, #Türkiye. Reception centres have been set up by authorities for these people, including primary health care facilities that offer psychosocial support for children, routine immunization, dental services.

The mental health and psychosocial needs in the community, esp. for children, require ongoing support, as Dr Esra Pacaci, coordinator, explained. Teşekkürler to all specialists from across the country who are working together amid this severe crisis.

With so many crises in the world now, the global community must not forget the people of #Yemen. We welcome the 31 pledges made today totalling over $1.2 billion, but much more is needed. After 9 years of conflict, the needs, including for healthcare, are dire.
