He was a remarkable man, a privilege to call a friend, an inspiration. He saved a nation & alerted the world to SARS, an incredibly brave, humble, dedicated man, committed to public health and a better, equitable future for all.
Dr Carlo Urbani is a fallen hero of WHO. He was the first person to identify SARS as a new and lethal disease in 2003. His work helped to save many lives, but he lost his own to SARS 15 years ago. Today I met his family to honour his memory. His example is an inspiration.pic.twitter.com/BIsOrB9IKa
