The death of Dr Mouzoko is extremely heartbreaking for me & the entire global health community. I spoke with his widow, Mrs. Friguette Mouzoko, who lives in Cameroon, after she & the extended family were informed about the incident. Family tragedy saving others from Ebola
Mrs. Friguette Mouzoko told me they had four young children together: a 12-year old girl, a 10-year old boy, an 8-year old girl and a 6-year old boy. Today, Friguette became a widow and a single mother. The death of Dr Moukoko is a tragedy for the family. They are devastated.
The death of Dr Mouzoko also underscores that when health workers are targeted and attacked, it has huge ripple effects that are felt by the people they served, the communities in need, and of course their loved ones, friends & co-workers. It’s a loss for everyone, everywhere.
My heart breaks for their family.
