Exactly. SUVs footprints are enormous. But all cars are bad. Car free life could be much better. "Carbon budgets, car free living and happy degrowth" http://www.brusselsblog.co.uk/car-free-living-and-happy-degrowth/ …pic.twitter.com/9lryVZgbec

Is this a case of people voting with their car purchases?, surely people know an SUV spews out more CO2 than a mid-sized family saloon? - Do yous want a sustainable planet or a gas-guzzling SUV? - well now we know
Isn't that because SUVs didn't exist in 2000? It's not a very meaningful chart unless you have the absolute numbers (or the extent to which other ICE emissions have fallen because people have switched to SUVs)?
okay, well explain it in relation to aviation..?
Definitely not good news, but also not that surprising. These monsters have been ascendent for years. Encouraging people into smaller cars is, I suspect, going to be tougher than changing other personal consumption habits given how attached people are to their cars
the use of statistics here is wrong on so many levels. a lot of cars got exchanged for suvs in the last years + more vehicles on roads today
if you compare co2 emissions of suvs today with 1997, its raised infinite times, because its a relatively new category. i don’t have the data, but i’d bet that the average co2 emission per car/suv is substantially lower today compared to 2010
And what was the single biggest driver of global CO2 emissions reductions?
Efficiency (see second graph in this page). True for cars too (but smaller ones) https://www.iea.org/geco/emissions/
