13-33% cheaper to build extra renewables instead of new nuclear plants at Wylfa, Moorside and Sizewell, says @JMarshall_ECIU @ECIU_UK https://eciu.net/assets/Briefing-%E2%80%93-Filling-the-nuclear-gap-compressed.pdf …pic.twitter.com/yHEa25QTlD

Wow, does solar in the UK really run at a 9% load factor?

I wonder how that works if offshore wind is assumed to have a capacity factor of 44% as given as the current average by http://energynumbers.info/uk-offshore-wind-capacity-factors …, and not the 66% given in that calculation.

new offshore will def have higher load factor than old – bigger turbines, further from shore etc 66% may be high but 44% def too low

Be careful - costs of storage included? Intermittancy has a cost, not so high as pro-nukers say but some. Plus good Biomass solid output could be increased via 20-30MW scale CHP units @REAssociation @WHAssociationpic.twitter.com/eYnYh1Fdky
