How are the nitty gritty details progressing at crunch climate summit in Katowice, Poland? In a word: unevenly! I'm tracking draft texts on the Paris "rulebook" in this open spreadsheet…

While there is certainly nothing wrong with making individual low-carbon choices, I am increasingly concerned with how the movement is emphasizing individual lifestyle over collective action. There are two problems with this (thread).

Seaborne Freight Ltd the ‘no ferries’ ferry company has registered its address at Companies House as 59 Mansell Street London. I went there today during office hours and found this is actually the address of its lawyers. So Seaborne Freight seems to have no ferries or offices

Yesterday, our colleagues from and successfully tested the cable at full capacity. Around noon, the subsea cable transported 1020 MW from the UK towards BE. This marks a big step towards commissioning and a further integrated EU market.

The parliamentary decision to enable the Prime Minister to make Article 50 notification without any preparation or thought is the biggest UK policy failure of modern times. Every MP and Peer, of any party, who voted for it, and every pundit who clapped and cheered, is guilty.

This is a big deal. NFU call for British farming to lead the world and go net zero emissions - carbon neutral - by 2040.

How to pervert democracy Brexit-style: a) Hold a vote without defining what is being voted for; b) Define what it means after the event; c) Refuse to allow voters a chance to agree/disagree with your definition. Brexit is the real affront to democracy.

Funny how visually different it looks when you begin at the start of the record rather than (completely arbitrarily) in mid-2001:

More than 3 years since Germany welcomed nearly 1m refugees. One in three now work or are in training schemes. These figures continue to rise fast (). Merkel’s approval stands at 60% (ht ). Not giving in to populists isn’t easy, but it can be done.

If no concrete action is taken to stop it, the UK leaves the EU without a deal in *85 days*. That happens automatically: unless parliament revokes Article 50, or ratifies a deal, NO DEAL HAPPENS. In 12 weeks, 1 day. We really, really need to get that into our heads.
