Ok so Black folks (& Black folks only), share your recommendations. Non-Black folks, start reading! When you’ve finished a book then you can share with the hashtag. And don’t forget to support your local independent booksellers!

Point of clarification: are you imploring Black folx to expend thankless and unpaid labor during our month of honor to teach non-black folx?
I mean, I’m good! -
Nope. I’m encouraging folks to uplift & praise Black authors we have already read & loved. And then assigning that reading to non-Black folks. If typing a tweet & tagging a Black author to support their work is too much labor for you, feel free to pass. I’m not your mom.

Thanks for this! I’m excited to read these recommendations. “Undefeated” by Kwame Alexander is beautiful & powerful. I got a copy for my school library & one for my principal. She demonstrates the same beauty & power.

No one is trying to appease non-black people during black history month. This is our month.

-
Appease? How about uplifting & supporting Black authors all month long, especially living ones who could use those sales & the exposure via sharing their work? How did you end up with “this is to appease non-Black people”?
