The solar surface in HD! These are convection cells of hot (~6000 K) ionized gas. Bright areas show rising gas, dark rifts are regions of falling ("cool") gas. Cell diameter ~1000 km! Taken with the 4m Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope. Credit: NSO/NSF/AURA

We confirm the candidate host Kepler-1625b as a long-period transiting planet. This Jupiter-sized object could have been a brown dwarf as well. Our RV analysis puts it into the planetary regime now: Timmermann, Heller et al. (2020, , A&A accepted).

Will we know 100 Million planets by 2050? Here is my hand-drawn extrapolation of the cumulative count vs. time. Interestingly, the sum of +++ (3.5e4-1.1e5) fits the line in 2030. Data:A. Weinberger/NASA Exoplanet Archive

Das einzige Argument der sind die Qualifizierungschancen nachrückender WissenschaftlerInnen. Dabei endet die akademische Qualifikation doch mit der Promotion: die ist natürlich zeitlich befristet. Was aber ist mit den Postdocs?
