CW: Police violence This evening in Manhattan, an NYPD officer approaches a group of people filming an arrest, deploys his taser indiscriminately, then grabs a young man and, without provocation, slams him to the ground, starts beating him and, with another cop, handcuffs him.pic.twitter.com/N6bENczkOU
The incident took place on Avenue D and 9th St (a part of NYC called Alphabet City, to the east of the East Village). The cops shown in the video are from the NYC Housing Authority Anti-Crime Unit (there are a number of NYCHA buildings in that area).
Also, *every* single thing that went down on that block needs to be investigated. The arrest shown at the beginning of the video is incredibly violent; there's also people screaming at the end about something happening out of frame. NYPD are out of control.
