Thanks for the mention! Also wanted to say that in the way that everyone knows about , I hope we get to a point where everyone know what is and can get access to it if they feel it’s a good fit for them. approach vs. screening

PrEP is one of the most significant interventions for primary care in general. Everyone should be knowledgeable and regularly prescribing this. It is not a niche thing to do

One thing I've found with all patients but especially marginalized groups: you have to let them teach you. Many in the LGBT community know far more about than your average doc. This is frustrating but it's also an opportunity to remember teaching goes both ways.

Too few docs are initiating these conversations, and to confess, most of my convos have been patient initiated. I need to be better at screening, but I am also happy to say I've learned a lot from my patients. Check And

Don't forget about costs! There are many programs to help patients pay for from states, the pharma companies and HHS.

What are the side effects of prep? Short-term: headaches, weight loss and GI distress. These typically resolved in the first few weeks. -For truvada, minor reductions in their bone and kidney health, which were reversible when Truvada was withdrawn.

Unknown HIV status is a contraindication for prep, because of fears of increased resistance. Kidney disease is a contraindication to truvada, but descovy may be safe. Active Hep B and liver disease except cirrhosis are no longer contraindications.

Something I know I could do better though, start with open questions before talking about specific risk factors like

Hi ⁦⁩ This was very special. 6 minutes and several layered depths for us all at various stages of training and service provision. Humble, measured, effective, courageous and truly great teaching. Thank you so much for sharing.
