First thought is I don't know if I believe that. I've seen no sign of anyone I know moving away from BLM. If this is about financial donations, I'd bet much of America has slowed on donations everywhere. It's hard to imagine any thinking person being swayed away.

Because critical race theory sees behind the legal superstructure of atomized, formally equal, individual juridical subjects that people have strong group investments in a collective identity, e.g. white identity, they explain why challenges to white identity engender reaction.

Not quite. CRT looks behind the liberal “Self” (which is a construct to avert domination rooted in the subjectivity of values) and ONLY sees a “Self” constituted by race-consciousness. That’s a dead-end for any social-change program.

Ockham’s razor is apt here. A reductionist theory with lots of conceptual baggage is hardly the most straightforward way to understand why whites are balking at certain remedial programs.
