Democrats in the Senate are holding the government, funding for our troops, and health care for 9 million children hostage over the issue of illegal immigration. The House did its job and voted to keep the government open, it’s time for the Senate to step up. #SchumerShutdownpic.twitter.com/LCv5DnyzAp

Trump & Republicans are holding 800,000 DREAMers & 6 million children with CHIP hostage. Time for them to step up and take action. What exactly is the holdup? Oh—I forgot—they want to deport all DREAMers & don’t care if kids & pregnant women have health insurance. #TrumpShutdown

You are a partisan hack who hasn’t cared one bit about the CHIP program until yesterday when you used it as a political toy.

Pretty sure the stable genius president you follow is the one who rescinded DACA and said that the congress that your party controls would come up with a solution. Do your job and find a solution. We're all tired of stop gap spending measures.

Chip expired in September and your party decided to use it as a bargaining chip. Your party has passed 4 CR’s because you can’t get your own party on board for the budget. Your president said “bring me a bill I’ll sign it” then backed away TWICE. This is a #TrumpShutdown

The GOP controls house, senate and Whitehouse but yeah its all democrats fault. 🙄 These issues require compromise from both sides, this message shows your more about partisan politics. #GOPPuppet #FL2DeservesBetter

You're still missing at least two GOP senate votes, you can't even get your own membership on board with this.

A deal was offered last week, but no the moron president blew it all up! The GOP needs to compromise and negotiate. I think that if the govt shuts down then Congress should not get paid either @clairecmc

Keep in mind, REPUBLICANS let CHIP expire last year. They could have reauthorized it at any time, and could reauthorize it today. They could vote right now. They're not, because they wanted to use those 9 million kids as hostages.

Republicans control the White House and both chambers of Congress. There has never before been a shutdown under unified control of government. The #TrumpShutdown is a direct result of a complete lack of leadership and unwillingness to negotiate in good faith. No excuses!
