For #ReliefWednesday two openwork altar reliefs showing Sol und Luna. The altars were found in the Mithraeum at Mundelsheim. Such altars have been illuminated from behind to enhance the dramatic effect in the dark interior settings of the Mithraea.

The Mithraeum at Mundelsheim consisted of two ante-rooms and a main room used for cult practices, each of the long sides had raised benches for the initiates. It is likely that both altars were placed in front of the cult relief, showing Mithras killing the bull.
