*not an anatomist klaxon* I always put it down to the face that the first bit of a run is anaerobic, using the energy already in the muscles. Once the body realises the exercise continues it needs energy converted by aerobic means, which needs your heart and lungs to work harder.

Why does it usually take about 5 mins for my heart to catch up with what my legs are doing on a jog? And then do it suddenly? (Red is heart, blue is pace - measured using
