Speaking soon with @jimsciutto @CNNnewsroom about real world proof that #vaccines are working—CDC reports 5,800 TOTAL breakthrough infections in fully vaccinated people. Consider that otherwise, there are 60,000-80,000 new #covid19 infections EVERY DAY.https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2021/04/14/health/breakthrough-infections-covid-vaccines-cdc/index.html …

I thought it was almost 100% affective against Covid deaths??

Dr. Wen: incresingly I hear from people in my life, “what’s the point?” of getting the vaccine if: • nothing changes • people still get infected • blood clots I fear that articles / headlines like these don’t do enough to point out overwhelming effectiveness of vaccines.

Wish the headline had more context. It focuses on breakthrough infections, when what’s important is the overwhelming success of the vaccines.

I am vaccinated and a believer in the vaccines, but what I have been reading lately about the breakthroughs and hospitalizations and deaths is a little concerning. Trusted experts said people might still get sick, but these vaccines would prevent hospitalizations and deaths.
