In sum, Weiss published a similar book in 2008 with Nova Science Publishers (a borderline sketchy outlet accused of not doing peer review). After scathing reviews, she's back with a book that is apparently enough changed that she got a real academic press to publish it.

Weiss has been pushing this racist ideology for years, and it's time to stop giving her legitimate platforms to spread it.

Adding a response from Weiss and Springer to the open letter. Figured I'd post it in this thread since they... don't seem to understand that sending an email to the open letter authors isn't the same as posting a response online.pic.twitter.com/w33ipbUh6J

tl;dr - Weiss and Springer think no one's read the book. (I have. It's even worse than the snippets in this thread show.) That said, there are copies of it floating around, so please don't pay $90 if you want to read it. Just ask the universe, and she will provide... 😉

FYI, Weiss has also been contributing recently to this libertarian website, including a Thanksgiving post in which she concludes, "... how important it is for others to reach this same state of civilization." Also, she approvingly quotes Putin. 🤷🏻‍♀️ https://libertyunbound.com/what-to-be-thankful-for/ …

For people concerned with such subject matter, these authors really have *no clue* about Indigenous heritage, science, cosmologies, epistemologies, etc. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Just an insulting, disrespectful, terrible excuse for scholarship.

Even if oral traditions aren't "accurate" enough for scientists, it doesn't negate the whole argument of repatriation that NONE OF THOSE BODIES ARE OURS TO BEGIN WITH. Who are we to say they must go back to the *exact* descendant tribe? Indigenous bodies aren't our property!
