Thanks, Katharine! Here it is with the citation so folks can get the whole article it came from. Hope you're enjoying being back "home" in Canada!pic.twitter.com/7NIUYaJsX2
Better to use something like “vicious cycle” instead of “positive feedback”.
I think we could just use “doom loop” from now on.
What's a doom loop? It's like a vicious circle. Um.. what's a vicious circle? It's er...

Whoa yes! I want to keep a look out for them!!
I'm a scientist who works with control theory (adaptive optics) rather a lot and I still get "positive feedback" and "negative feedback" confused when I'm giving talks.
"exacerbating" and "ameliorating" feedback for problems; "amplifying" and "attenuating" feedback in general. I have avoided "positive" and "negative" feedback for a long time. It's not hard to do.
Similar: Scientists: P = 0.04 (solid results) Non-Scientists: 0.04? Tiny/ meaningless
I had to be taught the significance of P in a chat room. It did stop me sharing “stupid studies”, in a heartbeat.
Geologists: "positive feedback" = the drunker I get the more I drink
What a perfect example !
