    Good news- now all need to advise members xray arm bones is also not accurate not acceptable not ethical and children unlikely able to give informed consent

    The Home Office has ditched plans to use dental X-rays to determine the age of those seeking asylum - but is threatening to use their bones instead.

    What if all radiographers radiologists doctors dentists refused to take part in this unethical procedure that has no health benefit and that children unlikely given enough information for valid consent?

    Repeat after me: THERE IS NO SCIENTIFIC WAY TO MEASURE A PERSON’S AGE. Exposing traumatised children to unnecessary medical procedures is both barbaric and ineffective.

    HO analyse suicide risk when refuse asylum w/o any clinical knowledge & decide if risk acceptable to them ‘your risk of suicide cannot be directly linked to return to country X’, so not grounds for stay in UK & we cannot know for sure bc , coroners refuse count these deaths.

    A teenage boy from Afghanistan - who arrived alone age 14 - has killed himself after being refused asylum. The Home Office says they are "saddened". There are no words.

    Commission in the UK, the Home Office acknowledging that some people were wrongly included on the list and some legal representations, only 7 men, 7, of the original 90, left the UK today. Much will be said/written about this deportation. The Jamaica government, on this occasion,

    It’s much worse b/c census fails eg allow people properly identify as Gypsy/Roma/Traveller. Suicides in different ethnic groups or asylum seekers cannot be studied b/c & Coroners refuse record data. 10s of asylum seekers deaths in HO accomm- needs investigation.

    NEW: David Lammy questions why ‘Black English’ is not a census option.

    You are my representative see this and note 29 asylum seekers died in HO accom in last year. plans to detain more people, confine more in inhumane conditions. Are you going to vote for asylum bill that makes this all worse or will conscience intervene?

    11 young people took their own lives after being failed by the systems in the UK that are supposed to support them, including social care and the asylum system. This is a national scandal "

    Numbers of asylum seekers dying in UK may be even higher but and Chief Coroner refuse to count them. Why don’t ?

    29 asylum seekers died in Home Office accommodation last year, 5 times as many as those who lost their lives on Channel small boat crossings over the same period.

    1. This means that in the last 3 years, the government has paid out a total of £24.4 million to 914 people it was found to have locked up unlawfully. Before finger-pointing about abuse of the system, the Home Office needs to get its house in order and stop breaking the law.

    Home Office pays out total of £9.3m compensation for 330 cases of wrongful detention in 2020/21 - up from £6.9m in 272 cases in 2019/20, says annual report

    I am a refugee. When I was six, the UK saved my life and gave me a home and hope. This my plea is for the UK to live up to its proud humanitarian tradition by giving hope to the refugee children of today. Children like me. Just our fair share, no more than that.
