    It is obscene to prioritize the feelings of men who are barging their way into women's sports and, worse, women's prisons and battered women's shelters, over the concerns of the invaded women. Also, it is not kind to confirm people in their delusions, or their reality-denial.

    No matter your opinion on Lia Thomas, I urge you to discuss the topic as if a transgender person were in the room. Because one probably is. We can agree or disagree with the NCAA without insulting our transgender friends, classmates, and neighbors.

    The worst thing about all this is the unspoken lie. Trans women are not women. Obviously. If they were, they wouldn't be trans women, would they? They'd just be women. But they're not. Why not? Because they're male. Can we put aside the kid gloves and stop infantilizing people?

    If you are angry about Lia Thompson's domination in women's swimming, but still call him by his preferred pronouns, you are part of that problem. Either you think he's a she, at which point it's not unfair to compete. Or you admit he's not a she. There's no middle ground here.
