Doctors in China stopped the spread by testing to find the sick, isolating, and modeling the spread. They found there are 5 undetected cases for every 1 detected - and they were actually testing at a large scale. We are not. We are not doing enough testing, period. We are dangerously and absurdly behind. The
@WHO says the key parts of their pandemic play book are test, test, and test. Without testing, we are trying to fight a beast with a blindfold on. (3/x) https://ourworldindata.org/covid-testing pic.twitter.com/VxQduT6OP3

We are so far behind in testing that is not possible to catch up in time with all the exposed cases. There are hundreds of social media posts of people and health care workers who are sick, but cannot be tested. (4/x)https://twitter.com/chrislhayes/status/1239752413638283266?s=20 …

The only logical conclusion is to force
#SocialDistancing by a#ShelterAtHome order. Every day we delay, more people are infected and infectious. Doing this would allow for our increasing test capacity to catch up, and give us a chance. (5/x)pic.twitter.com/EtcWU8W9fG

Millennial: Ok, but only old people get sick, why not just keep them home? Why can't I go live my life? Me: Because young people do get sick, and they can die. 1 of 8 Americans in the ICU with
#COVID19 now are 20-44 years old. (6/x)https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/18/health/coronavirus-young-people.html?referringSource=articleShare …Afficher cette discussion -
Elected: What about our economy? People need to work to pay the bills. Me: If we continue with this patchwork inaction, this will continue for a very long time, maybe 18 months or more. That would really cripple our economy.https://nyti.ms/2WliQGB

Why don't we have a
#ShelterInPlace order in place now? Because telling hard truths is hard, and elected leaders want to be liked above all else. What is right vs what is easy. They asked to lead us, now is the time.Afficher cette discussion -
Our leaders should implement a
#ShelterInPlace order now for the next 3 weeks. This would#FlattenTheCurve, allow testing to catch up, and get our economy moving sooner. The time is now, and it's getting late early.Afficher cette discussion

Doc, we can’t have the medical community be the pack-mule for this crisis; medical clinicians must be free to do their jobs. Need to stand up the National Incident Management System (NIMS). FEMA needs to be the lead fed coord agncy w/st/lcl. Help get the word out. Retd emerg dir.
