30 hour call. 7am to 12pm the following day: a day shift, night shift, and half a day shift. Twice I’ve hit a light pole with my car on the way home. This shit is not funny. I could have been taken or taken someone else from their family. For fucking nothing.

I just don't understand how we are doing this still. What is the part of a doctor valued most? Critical thinking. What fades as sleep is deprived? Critical thinking.

I’ve taken naps before driving home. Don’t drive that tired.

This solution is preferable to dying, but not as good as abandoning the bad old system

Whole Fiods has very weird scheduling. When I worked there one of my team members was scheduled for a day shift then an overnight shift. He flipped his car just before dawn driving home. Air ambulance, intensive care stay etc. ya gotta wonder

I used to do quick changes in direct care because new staff dont get regular shifts or hours or planned rotation. Fell asleep driving home once after a 15 day stretch of that nonsense. Lucky I didnt kill anyone.

Shouldn’t this be a duty hours violation?
