Wow! Or maybe, what's new. Now around two hours between York, Leeds and Machester due to cancellations. Not a viable work option anymore. I feel even more for the folks in Redcar and Saltburn. Do you remember trains?

Please share this. We need transparency in our decarbonisation policies. Every year £billions of tax funding get spent on the transport system. We have to spend them on the right things UK government blocks release of CO2 figures behind transport plan

Listening to a set of summaries of some of the amazing Seedcorn projects which we funded through - thoroughly inspiring and underlines the importance of local design and ownership working together with national policy frameworks. Well done to for coordinating

The buses have moved to a new fast Wetherby - Leeds service. I wish it luck. Done well bus is a great product/service. We need more people to be using it. That wont happen imho without a big shift in complementary policies in tandem with the service upgrades.

The alternative on offer is the Coastliner. Nice service but around an extra hour a day to my total commute. I'm struggling to sell it to myself. But at least i have alternatives. How many stories of the last bus are we seeing or going to see in the next 6 months?

Agree, was great to show how much we have done in a short time. I feel energised for the next phase of scheme development, knowing we can continue to improve and deliver a great active travel network for the people of Leeds.

Great to host colleagues from @activetraveleng & @Sustrans in Leeds today and to show them the work we've done to enhance walking & cycling infrastructure & create new public realm. Some fascinating exchanges of ideas. We're proud of what's been done, but there is much to do!

I cannot underline strongly enough how important it is that we start working to what the climate budgets actually mean. Infrastricture planning is working to a fiction. I see no legitimacy in requiring local carbon reduction commitments in LTPs if the DfT dont release.Demand this

A typical European car is parked 92% of the time. It spends 1/5th of its driving time looking for parking. Its 5 seats only move 1.5 people. 86% of its fuel never reaches the wheels, & most of the energy that does, moves the car, not people. Sound efficient? HT @circulareconomy

This. 96% of all trips in uk are under 35 miles. E-bikes are fab but not for everyone. The regulation change for powered light vehicles is key. This transition could happen quickly and be affordable.

As cars grow expensive and enormous, the disruption of the automobile is becoming a real possibility. How might challengers appear? In the innocuous form of e-cargo bikes and “souped-up golf carts.” A 🧵 about my new article in @FastCompany fastcompany.com/90804313/why-c
