    As we see Nauru try and dissociate itself further from outside interference or reportage, this is even more important. No reporters allowed. No checks and balances. Ongoing abuses of rights. Children suffering every day.

    Listening to Gerard Henderson trying to explain away and justify the cases of suicidal kids on Nauru is incredible. It's wrong, he knows it's wrong and I think this diminishes him. We argued for years to get these kids off. Denied every time by Dutton.

    I am pleased people are waking up to this. It is utterly vile to treat anyone, let alone a ten year old boy like this. Forget the politics- this is basic humanity and this policy is utterly lacking in that. This is shameful.

    So the department actively argued against a suicidal ten year old boy. This is what this government has become. I do not know how they sleep at night. It is morally, legally, medically utterly wrong.
