We took my nan to hospital in the car because chemo meant she couldn’t stand, let alone wait for a bus for ages

Exactly. It’s not rocket science, is it.

In the past year here the local bus was axed, the other bus that goes through the centre of town has been cut, there will by the end of the month no night bus, nothing kn Sundays and one of the services only runs between 12 and 5. You have to get a 2nd bus to the hospital too.

yes, especially when massive out of town shopping centres with acres of free parking exist.

Even with a good public transportation system, sometimes you just want to be in your own car and not on a bus. If I’m sick, the last thing I want to do is be on a bus. As someone with mental health problems I rely on my car to get around, as I can’t manage public transport.

Also I wouldn’t have thought it was advisable to pack busses with sick people. Let’s pack everyone on a nice hot bus, coughing and sneezing. I’m sure Doctors would advise against it, especially since some illness can cause a lot of issues for the sick or elderly.
