Let this sink in: Sobering—Los Angeles County EMS has issued 2 edicts for ambulance 🚑 crews to: 📍NOT transport patients w/ little chance of survival to hospitals 📍*conserve the use of oxygen* only for the most critical. 2) “due to the severe impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on EMS and 9-1-1 Receiving Hospitals, adult patients in blunt traumatic and nontraumatic out-of-hospital cardiac arrest shall not be transported [if]return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) is not achieved in the field,"

        3) “If there are no signs of breathing or a pulse, EMS will continue to perform resuscitation for at least 20 minutes, the EMS memo said. If the patient is declared dead at the scene or if no pulse can be restored, paramedics will no longer transport the body to the hospital.”

        4) the ambulance transport edict was issued last week... here is the sobering lay explanation of that rule:https://twitter.com/DrEricDing/status/1344611414749667328 …

⚠️NEXT LEVEL BAD—this radical change in ambulance 🚑 rules means if an EMT paramedic cannot resuscitate a heart beat, a patient will not be transported to any hospital in Los Angeles. ➡️This is worse than rationing 🏥 care. We have reached this. #COVID19 pic.twitter.com/DllJMTKdWT

Wait... I am confused. They are just going to watch the patients suffer when they are called out until they pass away? and should an EMT be able to make that call without a Dr?
