My earlier worst fears confirmed: Younger adults were the main source of 61 different outbreak clusters in Japan. In this study (in a CDC journal), contact tracing isolated the primary source of 61 epidemic clusters to be mostly younger adults! 🧵 #COVID19 https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/26/9/20-2272_article …pic.twitter.com/3uKvUuUaNZ

        2) “We analyzed 3,184 cases of coronavirus disease in Japan and identified 61 case-clusters in healthcare facilities, restaurants and bars, workplaces, and music events.” ➡️ These appears to be the main hot spots - especially young people hotspots.

        13) I was EXTREMELY worried about this EXACT ISSUE months ago - this post warning thread below was when I tried to raise alarm about young adults being the riskiest age group for transmission back in mid March... almost 3 months ago. Oy. https://twitter.com/drericding/status/1239041092978343937?s=21 …https://twitter.com/DrEricDing/status/1239041092978343937 …

I’m NERVOUS again- about young adults. Korea’s pop wide #COVID19 tests have revealed something scary: YOUNG PEOPLE are leading carriers. (Italy only tests the rather sick, biases to old people). If the socially active age20-29 truly carry 30% of all cases— that means trouble! 😨 pic.twitter.com/r9RxAeTVrF

        14) 📍BOTTOMLINE: Now months later, we have indeed confirmed from Japanese contact tracing of clusters, that most outbreak clusters all started from primary cases who were YOUNG, many NO SYMPTOMS, and in all the hotspots that public health officials have been warning about...

        15) Thus, this wealth of #COVID19 data (thanks to rigorous *contact tracing*) have taught us that we need to always erring on side of caution with this coronavirus, and consider risks not just who is sick/dying, but who is sparking the epidemic most! And we all need masks now! 😷

        16) DEAR YOUNG PEOPLE: 📌You may feel invincible, but you’re not. 📌You may be inconvenienced the most by the distancing and mask wearing - but it’s important. 📌You and your friends may mostly feel fine - but you’re the riskiest carrier group of all. 📌Please think of others.
